This new consumer unit suits installations with higher-than-average power demands. Its dual-function design with automatic changeover pairs best with battery banks of 200 amps or more, making it ideal for medium to large vans such as Mercedes Sprinter and VW Crafter conversions.
It suits setups that add mains hook-up and an inverter at the same time. An RCD protects incoming mains power, while a dedicated mains-only breaker runs loads such as a battery charger. The automatic changeover then selects mains or inverter power, prioritising mains when available. Power flows through a second RCD and breaker to supply onboard loads such as ring-main sockets.
