High Performance AGM Deep Cycle Leisure Battery

This deep cycle Predator 12V 110Ah VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) low box battery, is designed for a variety of uses, such as boats, campervans and motorhomes. With its slightly lower box size, it is suitable for installations where height would normally prevent upgrading to an AGM battery.

AGM series (Absorbed Glass Mat), Deep Cycle batteries, are also known as VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid). Rather than a flooded battery, the Electrolyte is absorbed in the Glass Fibre separation (approx 75% absorbed). The result allows for much thicker deep cycle plates, which can cycle up to 5 times more than a conventional flooded battery.

The Predator 12V 110Ah low box VRLA AGM battery is a robust and versatile power storage solution that offers a high capacity, maintenance-free operation, and durability, making it a great solution for various applications.

Description

AGM 12V Leisure Batteries – Advantages Over Traditional Lead-Acid

1. Maintenance-Free

  • AGM: Sealed and maintenance-free – no need to check or top up electrolyte levels.

  • Lead-Acid: Often needs regular maintenance (checking water levels and electrolyte).

2. Spill-Proof & Safer

  • AGM: Sealed design makes it spill-proof, so it can be mounted in various orientations (except upside down).

  • Lead-Acid: Contains free liquid electrolyte, which can spill if tipped or damaged.

3. Lower Self-Discharge

  • AGM: Typically loses only 1–3% charge per month.

  • Lead-Acid: Can self-discharge at a rate of 5–15% per month, requiring more frequent recharging.

4. Better Vibration Resistance

  • AGM: The electrolyte is held in glass mats, giving excellent resistance to vibration and shock – ideal for mobile applications.

  • Lead-Acid: More vulnerable to vibration, which can shorten battery life.

5. Faster Charging

  • AGM: Can accept a higher charge current, so it recharges faster than flooded batteries.

  • Lead-Acid: Slower charging, which can be a drawback for off-grid or solar applications.

6. Lower Internal Resistance

  • AGM: Provides better performance under load and more efficient power delivery.

  • Lead-Acid: Higher internal resistance can reduce performance during high demand.

7. Longer Lifespan (in ideal conditions)

  • AGM: Often has a longer cycle life, especially when discharged moderately (e.g. 50% depth of discharge).

  • Lead-Acid: Shorter cycle life, especially if regularly deep-cycled.

8. No Gassing in Normal Use

  • AGM: Emits little to no gas under normal use, making it safer for indoor or enclosed spaces.

  • Lead-Acid: Can produce hydrogen gas when charging, requiring ventilation.
