Product Overview

The Victron Energy SmartShunt 500A/50mV Battery Monitor is an all-in-one, water-resistant battery monitor that acts as a fuel gauge, allowing you to accurately track the performance of your battery or battery bank.

Smartphone-Based Monitoring

Unlike Victron’s BMV range of monitors with a permanent display, the SmartShunt uses your smartphone as the display. It connects via Bluetooth and works with the VictronConnect app, giving you convenient access to all key battery data, including voltage, current draw, amp-hours consumed, state of charge, time-to-go, historical information, and more.

Ideal for Compact and Clean Installations

Because it eliminates the need for a dedicated display, the SmartShunt is ideal where space is limited or a cleaner, less cluttered installation is preferred. It also provides a lower-cost alternative to the Victron BMV-712 Smart for users who want Bluetooth connectivity without a permanent display.

Designed for Harsh Environments

With an IP65 rating, this SmartShunt performs reliably in demanding environments such as engine rooms. As a result, and with greater flexibility, you can therefore mount it in almost any location with confidence.

Installation Overview

To install the SmartShunt,

• Fit it it in line with the leisure or house battery’s negative cable.
• Next, connect the starter or auxiliary battery’s negative cable to the shunt’s output and run fused positive supplies from each battery to the shunt’s two inputs.
  Alternatively, instead of monitoring a second battery’s voltage, you can use the auxiliary input for temperature monitoring (with an optional temperature sensor) or midpoint monitoring. Additionally, you can display SmartShunt data on a GX device by connecting it via a VE.Direct cable.
